Work & Travel

Last week a very interesting proposition fell into my lap, from a very interesting person. When I first took the leap to travel in September 2015, the first thing that I thought about when I got home was. ‘Why am I back?’ and secondly… ‘I wonder if there is a way I could work & travel at the same time?’

So I did what any person does when confronted with such a question and I googled it.

types of businesses you can run from anywhere google search
types of business you can run from anywhere

Naturally, I clicked on Location Rebel, the first link, and top ranking post.

I was instantly gripped, this guy Sean Ogle had it completely figured out! Furthermore, he was running a business from his laptop and travelling to wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted and making a decent living at the same time. That day I poured through his blog and over the next few weeks an idea began to form in my mind.

Was it possible to work & travel at the same time? Could I do it? Could I be like this seemingly care-free individual and become a lifestyle entrepreneur myself?

Not far down the line, this inspired me to began my quest for location independence. Fast forward over a year and what was once a dream is very soon to become a reality. Consequently, It’s because of Sean why I’m writing this post to you now.

He was the person that invited me by email to ‘The Paradise Pack’.

The Paradise Pack

To give you some context the Paradise Pack is a project master-planned by two very successful online entrepreneurs.

  • Travis Sherry who is the founder of Extra Pack of Peanuts, one of the top travel hacking resources available online.
  • Jason Moore who founded the Zero to Travel, where he teaches people to travel on their terms via his top-rated Podcast.
Paradise Pack Founders Travis and Jason
Here’s the idea behind the pack from the guys themselves!

‘Like you, we absolutely love travelling and have a true passion for helping others discover different ways to explore the world.

But we’ve always had a hard time finding one place to get everything we needed to not only travel more but to create a model of sustainable travel through the creation of location independent businesses.

The Paradise Pack is jam-packed with all of the things we wish we had when we started out. We worked hard to bring together this wonderful group of experts to help you see as much of the planet as you desire.’

What the Paradise Pack provides is a hub of useful content aimed at helping you become location independent so that you can travel & work at the same time. Therefore the Paradise Pack includes a plethora of content to help you get the most of growing your own location independent business. It includes content from a collection of well established online gurus including:

  • Sean Ogle, the Founder and Head Rebel of Location Rebel. Sean specializes in helping small businesses gain the flexibility and freedom to work anywhere in the world.
  • Heath Armstrong, the gremlin smashing, fist-pumping creative maniac behind Fist Pumps, LLC! Founder of The Sweet Ass Journal to Develop Your Happiness Muscle in 100 days, this guy knows how to self-motivate.
  • Tim Leffel, an award-winning travel writer, editor, and author of five books. A legend in his own right, numerous publications have quoted him as being a travel expert.

This pack was the push I needed to propel my dreams of location independence into a reality and would give me all the tools I needed to make the jump from talking about pursuing a life of travel and actually doing it!

The Paradise Pack Journal – This blog post series

This blog post will be the first in a series in which I will document my progress through the paradise pack! So as I explore what the courses have to offer I’ll be sharing what works for me, what I enjoyed and my mess-ups along the way.
(I mean there has to be some comedy value included right?)

Hopefully, the Paradise Pack Journal series will inspire you to get involved in your own projects or inspire you to be able to work & travel. Personally, I believe this series will help me by holding myself accountable to you guys so that I can get as much out of the Paradise Pack as possible!

I’ll be posting the next entry Friday morning at 9 am BST (British Summer Time). If you guys want to keep updated, come back to this page or get subscribed!

Can everyone who reads this please put a little comment on where they’re based and let me know if your part of the paradise pack. I want to know what challenges you’ve started with!

As always feel free to make fun of some of my more hilarious failings (we all love a little banter).
That’s part of the fun!!

Check out the first entry in the series!

  1. Stellar job on your first blog post! You’re off to a great start. I’m a Paradise Packeteer also from the US currently in Kentucky.

  2. Melissa from Paradise Pack FB group here! I haven’t started anything yet and probably won’t before July!

    • Hey Melissa! Thanks for checking out my blog! Finding time is hard! My first post i’m going to complete for next week i’m hoping to help show how easy it is to get started with at-least one of the courses so that you can get stuck straight in!

Personally I’m in progress with the Sweet ass Journal to unlocking your happiness muscle in 100 days and once you get started it takes only 10 minutes in the morning and at night to complete but can help you focus massively!

Can I ask why you need to wait till July Melissa? I’m really excited for when you do start! 🙂

  3. Hi Jaime,
I am based in Houston, TX and I also invested in the Paradise Pack this year. I love your initiative in accountability by creating a blog to track your progress and I can’t wait to follow you on your journey as I embark on my own. So far, I have only gotten through two modules of Brian Lofrumento’s Zero to Your First 10K, but it is enabling me to focus and identify my ideal client or customer avatar. However, the biggest challenge I face is figuring out what exactly I want to do. I’m an avid reader so I have a copy editing business now, but I also want to try VA work, subscription boxes (mostly providing capital…I’m not creative enough), and investing in expanding small businesses I believe in. I have so many friends who I have helped to start their business and it just makes me happy to see them achieve their dreams of living and working for themselves. Anyway, I wish you much success in all of your endeavors and will make sure to keep an eye out for your next blog post!

    • Hi Sasha, welcome to the party! I love Texas I was in Austin and Dallas in October to see my ex-gf, it was so warm! Focus is such a powerful thing, even only 2 modules and I can tell your already focusing on what you want to achieve. I love the subscription boxes idea, I used to subscribe to sprezza box a clothing company but they stopped shipping to the UK, it was brilliant! I also know my sister is big into Graze boxes, they send healthy snack alternatives! You sound a little like me in that you love to help others but sometimes struggle to take your own advice!! I can’t wait to hear your progress, keep in touch and let me know if you need any help with anything.

    • Thank you Laurie for getting involved! Anything in particular you’d like me to share or questions you’d like answering? I hope you’ll share your own progress with me to!

  4. Jennie Roberts Reply

Jamie I love your passion, I too would love to follow you on your quest for travel, life and business. You remind alot of myself when I was younger and it brings a smile to my face ?

    • Thanks Jennie, your always one of my biggest supporters. You rock! I hear the young version of you was pretty sassy, who says Tenerife is completely off the cards hey?

  5. Excellent first blog entry on Paradise Pack location indie journey! I am also beginning my PP journey for location independence. I have started checking out many of the fabulous resources but will dive deep over the next few weeks while working at home instead of on the road or at a conference. Stay focused fellow PPers.

    • Hey Rebecca, thanks for getting in touch and thank you for the compliment! I’m glad you liked the post. Have you decided what your going to tackle first Rebecca? I’m thinking of making a printable template for everyone that they can download to schedule when they will be able to make time to complete their projects. What project are you thinking of starting on first?

  6. Jamie you know that I loved (& will love) all your posts and im pretty happy to probably be a little part of your journey!
Can’t wait to read bout it and how you find the right words for all this experiences you’ll make!
    Love from Germany Xx

    • Your more than just a little part of my journey Julia! (And I think that you know this!) I can’t wait to make more awesome memories with you in Germany and all over! Bring on Sziget 2017 and Budapest first though, right? Thank you for your support and friendship 🙂 xx

  7. Jamie! Cheers on the Sweet Ass Journal mention! I’m so pumped you are raging with the paradise pack and moving forward. Your energy is f*king awesome, and I know you will end up accomplishing many many many great things. Slay fest! Slam some gremlins!

    • Heath It’s the least I could do considering all that your Sweet Ass Journal has done for me in a mere 9 days (or 9%..depending on how you look at it!) I’m really pumped too, I really feel like I’m going to make real progress with this pack and I think it’ll fuel me to pursue location independence! Thanks for the support you positive space monkey of energy!
